We’ve rounded up four colourful places around the world sure to brighten up any trip & your Instagram feed.
The Painted Ladies, USA
Tipped as one of San Francisco’s most photographed locations, the Painted Ladies in Alamo Square are a “postcard row” of colourfully repainted Victorian houses. Due to their unique colourful appearance, The Painted Ladies have appeared in an estimated 70 movies, TV programs and ads.
For the perfect Instagram image, make sure you go in early afternoon as morning photos put their world-famous facades in shadow.
Isle of Skye, Scotland
The Isle of Skye situated off the west coast of Scotland is known for it’s breathtaking scenery. It’s largest town, Portree overlooks a bay decorated by a picturesque string of brightly coloured houses. The reason this town is so popular with tourists comes down to its stunning coastline and interesting attractions. We recommend visiting the Aros Centre and the An Tuireann Arts Centre, which celebrate the island’s Gaelic heritage.
Ittoqqortoormiit, Greenland
Ittoqqortoormiit lays claim to being the most isolated town in Greenland, but it’s unique colourful buildings have ensured it doesn’t go unnoticed. In between the largest national park and longest fjord system in the world, this unique bucketlist item is definitely an item we want to tick off in the Viva office. Furthermore, the colour of each home also previously indicated what each building was for, including yellow for hospitals, and blue for fish factories. How handy is that?
Cinque Terre, Italy
The Cinque Terre is made up of five vibrantly coloured fishing villages perched high on the Italian Riviera south of Genoa in Italy and is an absolute favourite in the Viva office. The villages are comprised of terraces built to cultivate grapes and olives on the rugged landscape overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Top tip: Bring your walking shoes and camera then take the path to the lookout point pictured – you won’t regret it, we promise!
