Once upon a time Australians were constantly surfing the net to find the perfect place for surf, sand and Sex on the Beach cocktails.
Google is searching….Ding! You search found results for Bali (bonus, book now and receive a free Bintang beer shirt)
But with our currently closed borders, it is not surprising that Aussie’s are preferring to seek the same thrills closer to home. So where can you find surf, sand and cheap pricey but amazing cocktails? At the Gold Coast of course!
According to the Agoda study, they compared the top searched destinations for travel until the end of the year, with the same period (1 June – 31 December) last year.*
The results showed that the top 7 preferred Australian destinations you are looking for (once interstate borders open) include, the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Margaret River, Sunshine Coast, Perth and Cairns.
“While Agoda’s search data has seen a shift toward domestic destinations as regulations are being eased for domestic travel, people are still dreaming about international travel adventures,” said Tim Hughes, Vice President of Corporate Development, Agoda. “What Agoda’s data is showing us is there is still a hunger to travel, people are enjoying exploring their own countries whether alone, with family, or with friends”.
Clearly we are after good food, wine and beaches! And who can blame us? Whether we are chasing bargains while shopping, chasing down the best happy hour, or chasing the best surf, we can count on the lucky country to cover all our bases.
