Besides the pearl of South America, city of Cartagena, explore the colonial capital of Bogota and then it will be Medellín. You will admire the coffee plantations, incredible virgin nature with the highest palm trees in the world Valle de Cocora, the Caribbean islands of Rosario and much more. Colombia is a country of diversity, both the culture and the weather vary according to altitude.
Day 1 – Arrival in Bogota
Arrival in Bogota. Reception and private tranfer to your hotel located in the colonial center La Candelaria. Overnight in hotel.
Day 2 - Zipaquira, Sacred Lake Guatavita (B)
In the morning, tour with English speaking guide and private transfer to the magnificent Salt Cathedral in Zipaquira (1.5 hrs from Bogota), which is probably the most unusual and impressive place for worship you can find in the world, built in an existing salt mine. The Muisca Indians used the same place to get salt and trade the salt for gold. A Cathedral situated 120m below the top of the mountain. Entrance fee included.
Continue to the Sacred Lake of Guatavita and ecological walk to and around the lake. The Muiscas Indians used this lake for their religious rituals and initiations of new leaders. According to the legends this lake is the origin of the 'El Dorado' myth. Return to your hotel in Bogota.
Day 3 – Bogota (B)
In the morning, walking tour through the colonial center with guide. During the tour you will visit Chorro de Quevedo site, Monserrate hill (3.150 mts) by cable car or funicular, where you will meet the Sanctuary of the Fallen Christ of Monserrate, a craft market and enjoy an amazing view of the City. Continuation to the Gold Museum (closed on Monday) or Botero Art collection (closed on Tuesday) and Bolivar square.
Rest of the day free program. Overnight in hotel.
Day 4 – Bogota-Medellín (B)
At the agreed time, private transfer to local airport in Bogota for flight to Medellin. Arrival and private transfer to your hotel in Medellin. The rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in hotel.
Day 5 – Medellín (B)
In the morning, walk thru the citycenter with guide. You will visit the most important sites and squares, a visit to the museum Antioquia and a ride on metro and metrocable to neighborhood Santo Domingo for a nice view over the city. Return to your hotel for overnight.
Day 6 - Santa Fe de Antioquia, Puente de Occidente (B)
In the morning, trip with your guide, to the colonial Village Santa Fe de Antioquia, to experience the local life, you will take public transport. After a walk in Santa Fe, you will go on “mototaxi” to Puente de Occidente, a steel suspension bridge over the Cauca river. Return to your hotel in Medellín. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in hotel.
Day 7 - Coffee Plantations (B)
In the early morning, private transportation (driver only) to the Coffee Region. After arrival you will be accommodated. In the afternoon, experimental and interactive activity through nature and coffee plantation. The tourist can enjoy the traditions of the coffee land, they will discover the spectacular scenary, the unforgettable scent of earth, the taste of coffee and the power of the four nature elements. Day 8 - Valle de Cocora, Salento (B)
In the early morning you will go by private transport (driver and English speaking guide) to Valle de Cocora for an ecological walk through this amazing valley with the highest palms in the world, Palma de Cera. In this valley you can find palm trees with an approximate height of 65 meters. After an exciting walk through the valley and its cloud forest we will make a short stop in the little coffee town of Salento before going back to the hotel. Overnight in hotel.
Day 9 - Cartagena (B)
At the agreed time, private transfer to local airport in Armenia for flight to Cartagena via Bogotá. After arrival transfer to your hotel located within the walled historical city, the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in hotel.
Day 10 – Cartagena (B)
In the morning, walking tour with English speaking guide through the colonial part where you will visit two very important monuments Palace of Inquisition and the Church of San Pedro Claver. And a visit to the famous San Felipe fortress. This tour will take more or less half a day. Rest of the day to relax and explore on your own South America´s most beautiful colonial city. Overnight in hotel.
Day 11 – Rosario Island (B)
Today you can enjoy a day trip to the Caribbean islands of Rosario and the national natural park. You get alcohol-free fruit punch to drink, a typycal lunch, then swim in the coral sea, we will also take you to the Aquarium by boat (entrance fee not included). Around 15:30 return to Cartagena. The rest of the day off program. Overnight in hotel.
Day 12 – Cartagena - Departure (B)
After breakfast transfer to the local airport from where you continue your journey back home. End of our services.
