Do you want to visit the Galapagos Islands in style and don't have much time? Enjoy this first class cruise on Archipel II. This yacht will take you for a brilliant navigable tour to the Galapagos Islands. The Galápagos Islands are an archipelago of volcanic islands distributed around the equator in the Pacific Ocean. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site: wildlife is its most notable feature. Come to see for yourself iguanas, giant tortoises, turtles or flightless cormorants. Daily snorkelling included! Superb experience is waiting for you during this 4-day-long cruise!
Day 1 - Baltra Airport - Island Santa Cruz: The Charles Darwin Research Station
Flight from Quito to Galapagos Islands. After landing at Baltra, everyone has to pay the Entrance fee to the National Park, 100 USD. Then a guide will take you to your boat. The cruise starts with a lunch and an afternoon excursion to Santa Cruz Island and its Charles Darwin Research Station which is formed by an information centre, a museum, a library and a tortoise breeding station. In the tortoise breeding you can encounter tortoises of different subspecies, which are being prepared for reintroduction to their natural habitats. The most popular inhabitant of this Station is probably the Lonesome George turtle.
Day 2 - Island Santa Cruz – Cerro Dragon - North Seymour
You will stay a bit longer on Santa Cruz. Cerro Dragón, along the northwest coast of this island, contains two lagoons where flamingos and land iguanas can sometimes be seen. Vegetation in this area includes Palo Santo trees and Opuntia cacti. Then you move to North Seymour. On this island there are blue-footed boobies, colonies of magnificent frigate birds, fork-tailed seagulls, sea lions and marine iguanas. All meals included.
Day 3 - Island Bartolome - Rábida Island
Today you will stop at probably the most photographed island in the Galapagos due to its 350 foot high summit and fabulous 360 view, which is reached after a 60 metre hike. The main attractions are a small colony of Galapagos penguins and sea lions, both found in the cove where you will make a wet landing. Behind the beach the red and white mangrove, salt bush, morning glory and the prickly pear cactuses can be found. Other animals that may be seen here are the great blue heron and possibly sea turtles as they lay their eggs from January to March. Then you will sail to the small volcano island Rabida to visit a bay with both fresh and salt water. You will admire rich fauna and flora again. A large penguin colony can be found here. Get ready for taking beautiful photos.
Day 4 - Island San Cristóbal – Interpretation Centre – flight back
San Cristobal was the first island visited by Charles Darwin during his historic visit to the Galapagos Islands. An Interpretation Centre was built in 1998 here by the national park. The exhibition hall tells the story of the formation of the Galapagos Islands, the wildlife that lives here, the arrival and impact of man and the importance of conservation. This is the last excursion. You will be driven to the airport for your flight, end of our services.
